Autumn & Ales 10K
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Dear Scarborough Running Community,
Thank you for your patience as we attempt to make a thoughtful and safe decision regarding the 2020 Autumn and Ales 10K race. Like many other local events, we have spent the last few weeks/months eagerly awaiting positive news about COVID-19. While each day we are more hopeful about the situation as a whole, safety remains our top priority. Unfortunately, the Governor of Maine has extended the state of emergency. This includes the ban on gatherings and events through at least until June/July, which would not give us enough time to adequately prepare for our 10K race.
After careful thought and deliberation, we have decided to postpone our third annual Autumn and Ales 2020 10K race until 2021. As a whole we feel it would be untimely to continue our event as planned without the certitude of business reopening’s and public gatherings. This decision was not taken lightly, but was determined to be in the best interest of our community, given the challenges associated with following social distancing guidelines.
We are grateful for your support over the past couple of years, but now its time to support your local business’, restaurants, and independent family stores. We are very disappointed to announce this news but hope that families will continue to enjoy the Eastern Trail this summer and upcoming fall.
We look forward to providing details on our postponed event soon.
